About me

Hello, How can I help?

I have experience supporting people through low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, grief, trauma, depression, relationship issues, sexual health, alcohol addiction, existential despair, anger and stress.

I believe counselling to be a unique opportunity to talk confidentially without the potential judgement of family, partners and friends. How can I help? What are your best hopes from coming to see me?

I'm a registered BACP counsellor and draw on a range of techniques to suit your needs. In our sessions I will create a safe, non-judgmental environment and confidential therapeutic relationship within which you will feel comfortable enough to explore whatever issues you are facing. I will treat you with respect and offer a genuine relationship.

If you are curious to learn more about what therapy with me might be like, we can have a free 10-15-minute phone consultation. Reaching out can be a difficult step, but there is no commitment required on your part until you are happy that I am the right fit for you and you decide you want to work with me.

A little about me:

I live in Liverpool but have strong family ties to the North East. I have a passion for music, playing the drum set and the banjo. I love being outdoors watching nature and I strongly value social justice and human rights.

My background is in teaching, in which I have helped many young adults from diverse backgrounds improve their skills and apply their knowledge. I value my students' creativity and imagination.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical and professional guidelines. During my study I volunteered at a charity called 'sunflowers' in Liverpool. The charity predominantly supports people with a cancer diagnosis although it has expanded its scope to the wider issues in the community. I have access to space in sunflowers and I have access to an office on Slater street in Liverpool city centre if that is easier to travel to.

While working as a counsellor I have had experience working with people suffering anxiety, depression, stress, loss, trauma, suicide, grief, anger, alcohol and drug addiction, compulsive behaviour, relationship problems, stress, low self-worth, eating disorders and death anxiety.

I use therapy techniques such as person-centered, solution focused, compassion focused and inner child work. I also have suicide awareness certification.

Every person I have worked with has different ways of coping and this is why I believe the person centred approach allows for your experience of life to be at the forefront of our therapeutic relationship. Lets start with how you are right now and take it from there, when you feel comfortable to share more with me, I will listen and understand, as best I can, your experience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
