Mia Lake (MBACP) LS7 (Chapel Allerton), LS17 (Alwoodley) & LS1
Thank you for looking at my profile. My name is Mia Lake and I am run MindMove Counselling in Leeds. Please take a look at my website www.mindmovecounselling.co.uk
I am vocal about head/mental health and often speak on the radio. I also work with charities to help promote the benefits of talking.
Some of my working week is spent as a counselling practioner at Healthwise Leeds, in Chapel Allerton.
I see my private clients in Chapel Allerton (LS7), Alwoodley (LS17) & Leeds City centre (LS1).
I am a Registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) My counselling work means I work with many issues. My clients are men, women and young people (between 11-18 years).
Life can be extremely hard when you are experiencing difficulties or when you are trying to make sense of things. You may be ready to explore some of your feelings and by looking for counselling, you are taking your first step towards doing that.
The reasons for seeking counselling are wide ranging. You may be feeling a sense of loneliness, feeling sad, have anxiety or low self-esteem, be suffering from panic attacks or phobias; be trying to come to terms with a diagnosis or illness, or you may have symptoms of depression?
If you are trying to come to terms with a bereavement or other loss, you may feel the need to talk to someone other than friends, family or colleagues.
There can be many other reasons for wanting to talk to a counsellor, such as relationship/marriage/divorce issues, self-harm, eating disorders, abuse, sexuality, addiction and many others.
What I can offer you, at MindMove, is a safe and confidential space where over our sessions together, we can discover any underlying problems behind the difficulties you are experiencing.
HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP...
For many reasons it can be difficult to speak with family, friends or others you would normally talk to or confide in.
The counselling service at MindMove is completely confidential and non-judgemental, regardless of what you bring to your sessions. Being able to offload and talk with someone who doesn't know you, and who won't judge you, provides you with a freedom you are unlikely to have with anyone else.
How do I know if I will get along with my counsellor?
I fully appreciate that speaking to me for the first time, may feel daunting.
This is why I offer a consultation over the telephone. This allows me the opportunity to introduce myself and to ensure I feel I can help you. For you, it allows you the chance to briefly explain some of the things you are struggling with and to ask any questions you may have.
We can talk further at your first assessment session, and you can then decide if you would like to arrange further sessions.
During our sessions together, you can take your time, going at your own pace.
While you take your time to 'unravel' some of the things you are struggling with, I will be alongside you, helping you explore some of things you are feeling and trying to deal with.
