About me
I offer cognitive behavioural therapy, incorporating elements of integrative counselling and mindfulness.
I work with a client by trying to understand the underlying reasons why they may be feeling a particular way, and then developing strategies with them to help shift this.
In particular we may focus on changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, but also looking at a person's life as a whole, and working together to see if any changes or adjustments would be beneficial.
I also teach and promote the use of mindfulness techniques, which may be helpful in reducing the impact of negative thinking that can be a feature of depression and anxiety based problems in particular.
I am a dedicated and passionate psychotherapist who continues to have success working collaboratively with a number of clients presenting problems.
If I can be of any assistance, or you have any questions, then please feel free to contact me.
Training, qualifications & experience
In 2017 I obtained a BACP Accredited Post Graduate Diploma in CBT at the University of South Wales.
I also have Registered Member MBACP (Accred) since 2022.
I have a proven track record, most recently working for the NHS as a Primary Care Counsellor since 2018 working in various GP surgeries across Cardiff, and the Vale University Health Board, and more recently online.
Additionally I have worked for a variety of organisations as a counsellor including The Samaritans (Listening Volunteer), Hold Out a Hand Bereavement (HOAH), Cruse Bereavement, Torfaen Mind, Cardiff City Council funded Connections Counselling Drug and Alcohol Service, and Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
I also maintain a small private practice based in Griffithstown, Pontypool on Friday mornings.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
