About me
If you are feeling stuck, or finding experiences in your past or present difficult to manage, I can help you to explore these uncomfortable thoughts and emotions in a non-judgemental environment. In an increasingly busy world, it is often difficult to find the time and space to process feelings. But I believe that listening is such a powerful tool, and through our sessions, we can work together on ways to start understanding yourself more clearly and begin to come up with ways to move forward in a way that works for you. I am aware that starting a therapeutic relationship can feel daunting, and am passionate about creating a calm, empathetic space where there is real connection and where you feel seen and understood- perhaps for the first time.
Having worked for many years with adults and adolescents on a wide range of issues (such as trauma, addiction, self-harm, bereavement, identity, anxiety, depression, sexuality, eating anxieties, attachment, domestic abuse, self-esteem, and stress) I am able to use my Gestalt training to raise your awareness of thoughts and patterns that may be affecting you. There may be past experiences which have been too painful to explore so far, current situations which feel unmanageable or behaviours you would like to change but are not quite sure where to start. Whatever the difficulties you are facing, I believe that each individual has within them the ability to grow into the person they would like to be. My role as your therapist is to see the world through your eyes, and work together to remove any obstacles that may be in your way, so that you feel empowered to create the path to positive change that you desire.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the BACP and have a Professional Diploma in Gestalt Counselling. I am also enhanced DBS checked.
As well as my private practice in Chiswell Green, St Albans, working with clients aged 16+, I also have several years experience working as a student counsellor in a secondary school.
I continue to have regular CPD training and supervision in line with BACP guidelines and follow their ethical framework.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
