About me

Hi, my name is Mel and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor, offering online and outdoor sessions (as well as indoor face-to-face from September 2026). I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and any difficulties you may be experiencing.

If you’re scrolling through this directory, it’s likely you are going through a difficult time and would like some help and support in working through any problems you may be experiencing.

How counselling can help

Life is rarely straightforward and we are often faced with a number of challenges – whether that’s to do with current circumstances, living with the legacy of unresolved trauma and/or past experiences, or a combination of these.

Whilst we may feel able to cope most of the time with what life throws at us, sometimes it can be helpful to talk things through with a trusted listener, in a safe, non-judgemental space – and this is where I can come in.

I can help support you through anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, low mood, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, grief, life stages and family issues.

My counselling approach

As an integrative counsellor, my focus is you – I can draw on a number of different modalities of therapy and theories (which essentially means different approaches) to suit you, and I can also use creative tools to help you navigate through and make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings.

I am currently offering online sessions as well as outdoor therapy in the form of walk-and-talk, drawing on the power of nature to heal and reflect.

My outdoor therapy work is informed by my 10 years’ experience of working as a ‘wellbeing in nature’ practitioner, working with people who are living with a range of poor mental health conditions and supporting them to engage and connect to nature to improve their wellbeing. I have academic qualifications in natural sciences  and Forest School Leadership which help inform and shape my approach to outdoor work.

From September 2026 I will also be able to offer face-to-face sessions from a bespoke garden room.

A little bit more about me

I have worked as a therapist for a local counselling agency (2024-2025) seeing a wide range of clients with different presenting issues from diverse backgrounds. Above all, I have a flexible approach to my work – my priority is you and what works for you.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors in nature, either walking or cycling, often in woodlands or on the downs, and spending time with family and friends.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
