About me

Success is often depicted as a series of milestones achieved through talent, hard work, and perseverance. Yet, there’s a hidden dimension to success that goes beyond external accomplishments. The "secret language of success" includes understanding and overcoming personal emotional challenges that can impede our progress. Every successful individual has faced various personal challenges. Typically, the impact of such challenges goes unnoticed for quite some time. Anxiety can make it hard for us to focus and perform. Depression can cast a shadow over our aspirations. Low self-esteem and self-doubt can inhibit our confidence.

By recognising and managing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and other struggles, we create a foundation for genuine and lasting success. Working on self-awareness and resilience not only enhances our personal and professional lives but also leads to a more fulfilling and balanced existence.

Picking the right therapist for you will turn out to be one of the most impactful decisions you'll ever make. Maybe now's the time for breakthrough discoveries and a brand new life you'll love. If you’d like a better sense of how we might work together, please be in touch to arrange a no-obligation 15-minute discussion about your circumstances.

Training, qualifications & experience

With more than 20 years' experience as a practitioner and a decade of experience as a psychology lecturer, I have a PhD in psychology and an MA in counselling and psychotherapy. I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) in addition to being a Senior-Accredited Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

You and I will work in a context of curiosity, playfulness, and humour. When people are having fun, they discover more about themselves. We will draw conceptual diagrams, depict processes in your everyday life, and ensure that we conceptualise our evolving understanding of your circumstances. Typically, we will co-create some sort of between-session activity or experiment to "stack" your learning.

I typically favour Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then agree appropriate ways to help us make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and your everyday actions and experiences. In our work, I'll help you learn how to understand those thoughts with curiosity and compassion.
