About me

Hello I'm Matt, thanks for taking a look at my profile. I recognise how difficult it can be to choose a counsellor, from this list of faces and information. Let me know if you'd like to talk to me over zoom or phone before you book your first session.

I work with people who are seeking support due to a loss or betrayal, to help with anxiety, depression, workplace stress, family stresses and health issues. I also have a specific interest in supporting people who are neurodiverse.

I have worked for the NHS since my early 20s, much of this time was spent working in an area that helps people with severe and enduring mental health conditions. Being immersed in the world of mental health started my interest in the field, which began my journey to becoming a counsellor. I am now part of a thriving practice and have worked with many remarkable people.

I hope to provide you with a space where you can speak freely, without filters. Where nothing feels too strange, odd or dark to explore with me. This freedom of exploration quite often means things begin to feel clearer and more doable.

I respect that it's not always easy to see a therapist, to explore inner fears and anxieties, and it takes real courage to do it. We will approach this together, at your own pace, with your wellbeing at the heart of the process.

I am currently offering in-person, telephone and online counselling sessions.

I have undergone rigorous training to offer Telephone and Online counselling sessions and wholeheartedly believe that they are not second best when it comes to therapy.

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their professional framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
