Hi I'm Matt, a qualified counsellor with a welcoming and non-judgemental attitude.
Whatever you're going through and dealing with, I aim to offer therapy in a way that suits you best. You’re an individual and I believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ way to help. We can work together to develop our relationship to support you and your needs.
After taking this first step in recognising there is something in your life that isn’t as you’d like it. This could be in your relationships, feeling sad or anxious, troubled home or work life, I will fully support and encourage you to seize the day – to move forward and identify a way to make your dreams or wants for your own life a reality.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists).
Throughout my professional life I have worked for over 10 years at Leeds and York Primary Foundation Trust – an NHS body that helps people with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
I offer you a person-centred approach, placing you at the centre of our work together. I acknowledge and celebrate you as a unique individual whatever your background or lifestyle. Throughout our work I aim to help you understand your own strengths and resources, as well as any areas of difficulty.
I do respect that it is not easy to be able to accept and explore inner fears and anxieties, and it takes courage to do so. We will approach this together, at your own pace, with you at the heart of the process, whatever the outcome.
I am currently offering telephone and online counselling session but aim to have a physical space very soon.
We live in a changing world and talking through video or on the phone has become part of many people’s new normal. I have undergone rigorous training to offer Telephone and Online counselling sessions and wholeheartedly believe that they are not second best when it comes to therapy.
Online or remote Counselling gives you the opportunity to attend therapy wherever you are and is fully flexible to fit in with your own life. This also offers you the benefit of receiving counselling from your home or private space of your choice- in a familiar, comfortable environment and is a convenient way to experience the

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
