About me
Life can be full of challenges and friends and family aren't always the best people to offload to. It can be freeing to have someone outwith your normal circles to process life's complexities with. You may know exactly what brings you to counselling, be that low-mood, anxiety, grief or trauma, or you may just feeling a bit stuck or unsure of what you are looking for in life. Whatever the case I will always meet you with curiosity rather than judgement, offering a safe space to offload, process and explore your feelings and experiences. I believe counselling is a collaborative process where we work through any challenges you have together and develop practical strategies to move on in life in a way that feels right for you.
Going for counselling is like clearing out the cupboard in your house that really needs to be cleared out. You put off doing it for a long time because it feels overwhelming, keep shoving more stuff in and jamming the door closed. However, things keep falling out at really inopportune moments. One day you feel resilient enough to do it. You start pulling everything out and you may feel surprised about what you find. Inevitably there is a moment during the process where you may wish you hadn't ever started, you don't know what to do with any of the stuff you found, you might question 'how will that all fit back in there?', 'do I need any of this anymore?' or 'who put that in there?'. Then you systematically start to sort through it. Stuff starts slotting back in, you find some treasures and you get rid of some of the clutter. You finish and step back to admire your work, feeling less burdened, accomplished and proud of yourself. My job is to help you to sort through your thoughts, feelings and experiences, label the 'boxes' and help you to decide what you want to keep and what can go. As an integrative practitioner, I use theories and techniques from different counselling modalities including person centred, psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to inform my work. This means I will adapt my style to find what works best for you, working creatively to ensure you get the most from therapy.
With younger clients, I use engaging, age-appropriate strategies that empower them to express themselves and promote healthy coping mechanisms.
I am naturally curious and interested which leads me to continue to learn about techniques and theories beyond my initial training, ensuring I offer my clients a considered and knowledgeable service.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
