About me

Many people seek counselling feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or quietly struggling - often while appearing to cope well on the surface. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, or perfectionism, and wondering why things feel harder than they seem they should.

I work with adults who want to understand themselves more clearly and make sense of patterns that no longer feel sustainable. People reach out for support for many reasons, including anxiety or social anxiety, relationship problems, family issues, work-related stress, redundancy, or major life changes such as separation or divorce. For some, this also includes experiences related to ADHD, autism, neurodiversity, or high sensitivity - particularly where these have led to feeling misunderstood, over-responsible, or under constant pressure to cope.

I offer a thoughtful, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be taken seriously. I’ll listen carefully and work to understand your experiences from your point of view, rather than trying to fit you into a particular label or diagnosis. Counselling with me is not about fixing you, but about helping you develop a clearer understanding of yourself, your responses, and what you need.

Counselling can provide the space to explore ways of coping that may once have been necessary or protective, but which may now be contributing to anxiety, stress, loneliness, or low confidence. Through this process, many people find it becomes easier to loosen unhelpful patterns, relate to themselves with more compassion, and make choices that feel more sustainable - at work, in relationships, and in everyday life.

Each person’s situation is unique, but many find that having a consistent and confidential therapeutic relationship allows things to slow down. There is no pressure to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or rush towards solutions. Difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored at your pace, helping you move forward with greater self-trust and clarity.

I know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a significant step. If you’re unsure, I offer a free introductory call so we can talk briefly about what’s bringing you to counselling and whether working together feels right. There’s no obligation to continue beyond this call, and you’re welcome to ask any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Keele University.

My clinical experience includes counselling NHS staff within North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, and supporting cancer patients and their families as a Macmillan counsellor with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I have also worked within a charitable counselling setting providing accessible therapy to a wide range of clients at St. Martin's Centre for Health and Healing in central Birmingham.

These experiences have shaped my approach to working thoughtfully with people facing complex emotional and life challenges. I now dedicate all of my working time to private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
