About me

You may not have a clear label for what you're going through — only a sense that something feels heavier than it should, or that you've been carrying it quietly for longer than you'd like.

Perhaps you're used to managing on your own. Or part of you wonders whether what you're feeling is "serious enough" to talk about. If it feels persistent, confusing, or hard to hold alone — that's reason enough.

I'm Marilyn, a therapist based in Sittingbourne offering in-person sessions and online therapy across the UK. I work with adults navigating anxiety, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, life transitions, and questions of identity and belonging. I also have experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

My approach is relational and integrative, with a strong psychodynamic foundation. This means we may gently explore how earlier experiences and relationships are shaping how you feel and relate to others today — working at a pace that feels steady and manageable for you.

I'm particularly mindful of how much it matters to feel genuinely seen. For those whose experiences of culture, race, faith, or identity haven't always been fully understood or held with care, I want you to know that you're welcome to bring all of that into the room.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation — no pressure, just a chance to see whether working together feels like the right fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma of Higher Education (Level 5) in Theology & Counselling, which underpins both my clinical practice and my understanding of how faith, meaning, and spiritual questions can shape a person's inner life and relationships.

My work is grounded in a relational and integrative approach with a strong psychodynamic foundation — meaning I work with an understanding that present experiences are often shaped by earlier relationships, emotional patterns, and life history.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience supporting adults navigating emotional and relational difficulties including anxiety, low mood, identity questions, life transitions, and the lasting impact of domestic abuse.

I am an Accredited Registrant (MNCPS Acc.) with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and a member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC). I practise in line with professional ethical standards, with regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Further information

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear issue to work through, and sometimes there is simply a sense that something feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to carry alone.

My aim is to offer a steady and thoughtful space where you can explore your experiences without judgment or pressure. Together, we can begin to make sense of patterns, relationships, and emotions that may feel difficult to understand on your own.

Over time, therapy can help bring greater clarity and self-understanding.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Many people begin with a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right, and we can take time together to understand it.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can briefly talk about what has brought you to therapy and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
