About me

Hello, my name is Marie I offer psychosynthesis and nature based approach to therapy in  Tunbridge Wells and the beautiful grounds of Ashburnham Place, Battle.

You have likely arrived here because you are looking for some support. Perhaps something in your life isn’t serving you currently. Maybe anxiety just feels too overwhelming right now? Or low mood has taken its toll? I understand how difficult these times can be, and know talking things through with a trained professional can really help.

Symptoms of fear and sadness do not have to be a sign that we are not coping , instead these feelings can be a valuable messages that somethings not ok and wants your attention. Are you listening to the subtle messages your body and psyche are trying to communicate to you?

I offer a  psychosynthesis approach to therapy which believes  that every person has the capacity of leading fulfilling lives, with many of us only fulfilling  part of our potential. To uncover a person's inner wisdom, psychosynthesis counselling focuses on the exploration of feelings, thoughts, sensations which is not limited to  talking but can be through creative expression such as drawing, movement poetry.

Working through challenges with a therapist can really help to rediscover you’re inner resources and strengths, and aid personal growth and development. The process is enhanced when we really allow ourselves to be witnessed by another.

Psychosynthesis also believes, out of every crisis or challenge, there is potential for something new to emerge where we can break free from our internal patterns. While we cannot always control what comes our way, we do have a choice about how we respond and relate to these events.

In the past year I have had a wonderful opportunity of enhancing my practice by working outside in nature, being in nature has been so beneficial to my wellbeing that I want to offer this gift to you.

Being outdoors really does help us connect with nature and the living world, this is often overlooked when our roles at work often demand us to be indoors for so much of the working day. Whether you’re in Tunbridge wells or Ashburnham we can connect to the outdoors in our sessions in you wish.

If this message resonates with you, do get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a (BSc) Degree in Psychology. Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in  CBT interventions specialising in anxiety and depression working at the NHS. Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling (PGDip) and I am also an Internal family systems (IFS) informed practitioner.

I trained at the Psychosynthesis & Education Trust and I am a member of the BACP (MBACP) which employs a strict code of ethics to ensure the highest standards of practice. I am also a Member of the BABCP.

My psychosynthesis training was integrative (drawing from all schools of psychology) and I have a tendency toward depth work. Psychosynthesis supports transformation encouraging our fullest realisation of ourselves to be met.

I am also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) IFS and psychosynthesis share a similar philosophy and are an integral part of my work.

A big part of my practice is supporting people outdoors , allowing people to get the benefit of natures medicine.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
