About me
Dear scroller,
I am ready to sit alongside you, with whatever you are currently going through. Come just as you are.
You don't need to know what you want or need, but have an openness to explore how you are feeling, in confidence.
I am trained in Person Centred Therapy which means the sessions are lead by you, you can bring what you want, with as much as you feel comfortable to. I am here to listen and to help you hear your own voice.
You can come with any issue, and I understand it is a huge step to trust someone with something you maybe haven't shared before, a feeling you don't feel comfortable having or something that feels particularly hard for you to talk about. I will not judge you.
I can see you for any issue may have, but have some specific training and interests that you may be interested in:
Grief and loss
I have received training in Bereavement support, which may be useful to you. Whether you are impacted by a death of someone or you may have experienced other losses:
- a life you thought you would have
- your identity
- a relationship
- a job
- a lifestyle
Faith and identity
I appreciate and respect how a faith, a set of beliefs or religion can be important to you, your decisions and who you are. I endeavour to sit with you in your experience of the world, your background, values and beliefs - and respect the value (or not) they hold for you.
I look forward to meeting you,
Marie

"Meeting Marie for the first time, I knew immediately that I would be able to speak openly with her. I had intended to hold myself back and be selective about what we spoke about. Marie allowed me to talk, listened, and encouraged me in so many ways to be open about my fears and worries, without any judgement then guided me to reflect and explore a different perspective. Which has enabled me to be more open with my friends and ask them for help rather than struggling on.
I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

.......
I had In Person Counselling with Marie when I was in a particularly bad period in my life. She listened to me with compassion and understanding and at no time did I feel judged or looked down upon. I was able to share things I had never verbalised before and she helped me to learn the skills to deal with my issues myself. When our sessions came to an end, she ensured I had tools to enable me to cope with future situations. I would thoroughly recommend Marie to anyone looking for counselling and I would have no hesitation in booking sessions with her in the future if I feel I need to.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
