About me
Welcome,
My name is Maria. I am a qualified BACP registered counsellor. I offer therapy sessions in person and online for both long-term and short-term therapy sessions to adults 18+
I provide a professional counselling service to help you navigate life challenges. Things may be busy in your mind making you feel anxious, feeling low or depressed; or perhaps you may be struggling right now facing something that impacts you day to day and may want space to talk through something that's weighing heavy on your heart with someone who can give you the space to feel heard without judgement.
I can offer you a confidential, empathic and non-judgmental space from where to explore what's on your mind. You may want to work through and process what's going on in your life or on empowering yourself to make positive change. I'm here to meet you where you are, with you.
I prioritise building an empathic therapeutic relationship, fostering your autonomy throughout the process. Together, we’ll discuss how you’d like your sessions tailored and identify your goals for therapy. Along with this person-centered approach, we may also in sessions look to see how the past can influence the present. Often, clients want to explore who they are and discover how their childhood has shaped who they are now; I welcome this psychodynamic exploratory work and see how beneficial that can be.
This will always be done at your pace working with you.
Feeling heard and having the space to talk things through in a non-judgmental environment can lead to a better understanding of ourselves and our thought processes which can give insight, clarity and the possibility to find a path forward to positive change.
People come to counselling for a range of issues and experiences that will impact each of us differently, so I work in a tailored way for you with an integrative approach, drawing on both person-centered and psychodynamic theories dependent on individual needs.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
