About me

I am a couples counsellor, & family therapy trained.  I also work with individuals of all ages, and focus on the relationships. Everything we do is relational.  I believe that when when we find ourselves in difficult times we have lost a sense of ourselves, we therefore need to rebuild the relationship we have with ourselves. Trained as a systemic counsellor with over 16 years’ experience I bring various styles of counselling to suit your individual need.  Starting my work with 'Cardiff Mind' I have worked with people who are struggling to cope with their mental health. I have also worked in all educational setting with children, young people & staff.  I worked for many years in a special school for pupils with emotional behavioural issues 'EBD' I have begun to expand my work with individuals and or family members who are offending or at risk of offending behaviour. I have taken this work into prisons and worked with issues around domestic violence. I have worked with Relate Cymru focusing on relationship issues and family breakdown.

I understand that it can be daunting when thinking about seeking help and support, but being able to talk through your thoughts and feelings can help you gain a better understanding of the tangle you may often finds yourself in. This can enable you to work out better ways to cope and often in turn change your thinking and manage your own behaviour to situations and people.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am currently working with a new model developed by Tavistock Relationships” for A 50+MOT for 'Retiring together'. This Offers a safe space to begin to think about the transition to retirement. Allowing you to address the issues emerging from facing this transition, supporting you to draw on your strengths and resources in working towards your future together. What’s involved if we join? Four counselling sessions with a DVD of a brief scenario to help prompt our discussions in sessions. The first session we will explore the issues and assess your needs and agree that this approach could be helpful for you. If you and your partner are approaching retirement and would like to think about this specific issue and are aged 50 and over then this service is for you.

I am also working with individuals and families of people who are involved in the criminal justice system, or are offending or are at risk and concerned of offending behaviour.

I have a sliding scale and charge between £30 - £60 per session depending on the type of session and circumstances.
