Marches Counselling Service
We provide a high quality, confidential, service to adults in Herefordshire who feel that talking therapy may help address issues in their lives. A range of counselling approaches are available to suit individual needs: contemporary evidence-based models such as CBT and EMDR; as well as those which research shows can be equally effective, but are more exploratory and focus on relationships. An initial assessment appointment with a qualified therapist will establish whether we have the clinical resources to help you. If not we do our best to help you find appropriate support.
Update - in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the measures to minimise the spread of the virus we have stopped face to face counselling until further notice. However we are offering assessments via video media and ongoing counselling/therapy for those who feel able to work this way.
Training, qualifications & experience
We are a BACP accredited service and adhere to their ethical framework. All our therapists have followed accredited training courses and many have years of experience as fully accredited counsellors. We have therapists trained in individual and group work, as well as couple counselling. In-house supervision is provided so that no counsellor is unsupported in their work.

The above issues can become evident as the relationship between Client and Counsellor develops.
In this context they may not be the original reason which bought someone to counselling, but can be addressed as appropriate within the context of the ongoing process.
Some areas, for example 'Anger Management' are only addressed in this way, not through specialist courses.
We provide professional, affordable therapy. The fee for the initial assessment appointment of up to 90 minutes is £60. Fees for ongoing sessions are determined at assessment dependent upon a client's ability to pay. MCS is a charity and operates a concessionary fund to help subsidise those who are on low incomes or in receipt of benefits
For young people from the age of 18, we provide a way of addressing issues they may be facing in life and tools for gaining confidence.
For people struggling to manage in this difficult time we provide an objective listener who can open the door to new perspectives and the opportunity for change.
For working people we can provide evening and weekend sessions.
For the elderly and their carers who may be facing difficulties which could result in breakdown and loss of independence, we can provide relationship counselling.
