About me

Hello, thank you for considering me as a therapist for yourself or your teen/young person (15 and over).

I focus on working relationally and believe that each client I work with is an individual and their situation is unique. As an integrative therapist, my work incorporates different approaches across counselling and psychotherapy. This means I can tailor therapy sessions to the individual needs of my clients. The techniques I use are predominantly from psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive behavioural, and humanistic models.

I will provide a non-judgmental and empathetic space for you to verbalise and explore your story. We will collaboratively look at the issues you bring to counselling, aiming to empower you to look at the blocks preventing you from moving forward. For my younger clients I implement handouts and creativity to understand what is happening in order to reach therapeutic change.

I have specialisms in cultural issues, disordered/emotional eating, and self-esteem. I also work with a range of other difficulties including anxiety, depression, bereavement, work related stress and relationship issues. I can also help with issues specific to young people such as Identity, low self-confidence, bullying and exam related stress.

I offer a free 20-min initial telephone conversation with no commitment which will allow both of us to discuss the potential of working together. During this time I welcome any questions you may have about the counselling process and about my approach to therapy. I will ask for a brief description of what you would like to work on in therapy and some background information in order for me to determine if my skills and experience will meet your needs. If you wish to set-up a telephone consultation, please email me.

I work solely online or via telephone.

I provide both long-term and short-term counselling. Sessions take place once a week and last 50 mins.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MSc in Therapeutic Counselling and a BSc in Psychology. I am currently completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

I have also undertaken additional training in counselling children and young people to enhance my work in this area.

I have been working as a private therapist since 2017, working with adults and teen (16+) . Previous to running my private practice I worked for a university counselling service, working with students to find a way of coping with their personal issues in support of their studies. I have also worked as a sessional IAPT counsellor working with clients experiencing mild to severe levels of anxiety and stress as a result of a wide range of personal and situational circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
