About me
I am an integrative counsellor working with person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. I have a particular interest in supporting adult survivors of rape and sexual assault, whether the abuse happened recently or many years ago, in adulthood or childhood. I also work with family members who have been affected. Alongside this, I welcome clients experiencing anxiety, low mood and depression, stress, trauma and other life difficulties.
My interest in supporting survivors grew further whilst working for Trust House, a specialist charity, where I gained valuable experience and trauma-informed training. It is an area I continue to develop through further study as I want to give my clients the best support I can.
Please note: I work with clients who are currently safe from their abuser; if you are still in a live situation, I am happy to share details of local charities who can offer support right now.
I believe one of the most important parts of counselling is the relationship between client and counsellor, and I will never rush that process. Before we explore difficult experiences, we'll spend time getting to know one another and building trust so you feel safe and supported. If and when we come to explore past trauma, we'll do so together, at a pace that feels manageable for you. You will never be pressured to talk about anything before you're ready, or at all if that's your choice.
I offer a free 20-minute phone call so you can tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have, and see whether we feel like the right fit. I currently offer 50-minute evening sessions by video or telephone.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Counselling (Levels 1–4) and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I gained counselling experience with Trust House, a specialist charity supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault. Working with clients who had experienced trauma gave me valuable experience and helped me develop my understanding of trauma-informed counselling.
I am due to begin a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, followed by a Level 6 Diploma in Trauma Therapy. I enjoy learning and want to continue developing my knowledge and skills so I can offer the best support I can to my clients.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
