Lydia Keighley (MBACP)- Be You Counselling
I am Lydia, if you have visited my profile page, the chances are you are curious about counselling. Have you ever wondered what counselling would be like or whether it could help? Are you feeling stuck, sad or dissatisfied with life but don’t know why? Maybe past issues are troubling you and you can’t seem to find a way forward. Perhaps you are facing new changes in life and are finding it hard to adjust. Everybody needs a bit of help and support at times.
Counselling is different to talking to a friend or loved one, as a counsellor I will not try to tell you what to do, how to feel or try to put a positive spin on things. I will listen closely, without my own agenda or judgement and help you find a way ahead that is right for you. There is no ongoing commitment, if it isn't for you then you are free to end your sessions at any time.
Counselling can help people through times of crisis but isn't only for those in crisis. It can help with all kinds of issues that a majority of us will face at some point in our lives. Issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, low self esteem and ill health.
What I offer as a counsellor
I will give you the time to talk things through. In our sessions, whatever is happening for you, I will offer a warm and empathic approach that is respectful of you as an individual. I provide a safe, comfortable and calm environment where you can explore your feelings in confidence. There can be a huge sense of relief in just talking things through with an impartial person.
My hope is that through our time together, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your thoughts and feelings and get more in touch with what you want out of your life and relationships. I hope that ultimately, things will start to feel clearer and easier for you.
I am fully trained and experienced in Person Centred Counselling which offers a supportive, non-judgemental approach which aims to help you find your own way and gain confidence in your own ability to decide what is right for you. As a registered member of the BACP, I am committed to working safely and ethically with my clients.
Helping you decide if counselling is for you
If you've never had counselling before, you may have worries about what to expect.
If you contact me by phone or email, I will tell you more about what I do. To help you decide if counselling is for you, I offer a free of charge, 30-minute face to face consultation session which gives you an opportunity to meet me. In this session I will explain to you a bit more about counselling and it is an ideal opportunity to discuss any questions or queries you might have.
