About me

If you are viewing my profile, the chances are you are curious as to whether counselling can help you. In our counselling sessions, I will listen and give you the time and space to talk through your thoughts and feelings in confidence with someone who is completely impartial. Sometimes when your feelings are confusing or overwhelming, having an outlet for them can help things feel more manageable. When you are given the opportunity to talk freely ,without the judgements, comments and advice that others in your life may offer, it will help you to gain clarity and get in touch with what you want.

In counselling, you are the most important person in the room and it is entirely your time to pause and reflect on your life. Counselling can’t solve your problems for you but aims to help you find your own solutions, whether that is making changes in your life or finding your own resources to cope with things as they are.

Counselling can help people through times of crisis but isn't only for those in crisis. We all need a helping hand to work through our difficulties sometimes. It can help with all kinds of issues that a majority of us will face at some point in our lives. Issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, low self esteem and ill health.

Reaching out to make contact with a counsellor for the first time can feel like a big step but if you make contact with me, I aim to put you at ease and make the  process as easy as possible for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a degree in Psychology and am a fully qualified counsellor with a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. as well as level 2 and 3 certificates in counselling skills and concepts.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
