About me

Hello, I'm Lucy,

I am a highly qualified and experienced psychotherapist, and can offer a private, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore and talk about your concerns and difficulties. Whatever is holding you back from living your life on your terms with meaning, peace and self-compassion is worth talking about.

I work especially with: anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem, addictions, relationship, family and identity issues.

I have an innate capacity to respond intuitively and authentically and work integratively, meaning I am able to creatively draw from a range of approaches to tailor the therapy to your individual needs.I will sit with you in a safe and impartial space and together we will find a way of working with kindness, curiosity, compassion and humour.

I have an easy, sensitive, approach and work very much in collaboration with you. I focus on your present difficulties against a background of your past, looking specifically at your early relationships and environments, helping you draw links to why the difficulties you are experiencing may have occurred.Sharing your story, your experiences, your thoughts and feelings with a skilled professional enables change, facilitates healing and enriches life with greater meaning and awareness.  It is my privilege to both facilitate and bear witness to the process.

'I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.'Carl Jung

I have over 10 years experience of both private practice, work within the NHS and charity sectors, offering one-to-one psychotherapy to both adults and children aged 11 years and above. I continue to work with a diverse range of clients from many different backgrounds and cultures, with a wide range of presenting problems

Sessions

Sessions are usually at the same time, and on the same day each week.

I offer Open-Ended Psychotherapy where you and I work together to understand you at a greater depth, and over time.

I also offer Time Limited Therapy which is typically 12 to 24 sessions, where you and I might try and focus on one particular issue that you are having difficulty with.

How to begin

Please feel free to send me a brief message. All communication is strictly private and confidential.

Once you have made contact (and you and I have had an initial conversation), I recommend an initial consultation.

This session gives us a chance to meet and consider working together, and to explore whether therapy feels like the right route for you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
