Lucie Howell BACP Accredited
I am an experienced counsellor Accredited with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). As well as working in schools I have a private practice from home in the countryside based on the Surrey/West Sussex boarders.
When you understand your inner world, your thoughts and feelings, you have a better foundation from which to build everything else. We hear how much damage stress can cause us so it's not surprising finding a more balanced equilibrium can do so much good.
With that in mind, the counselling I offer is a safe space for self exploration, talking through past experiences can help release and process painful feelings stored with the memory. I have trained in a relatively new therapy called EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, originally developed to help people deal with the effects of traumatic experiences, it is also helpful for a variety of emotional and behaviour problems like anxiety, depression and insomnia. For information please see my website.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

While completing my degree I spent three years working in primary health at a busy GP surgery working with a wide range of personal and emotional problems. I have a special interest in working with anxiety, panic attacks and stress. I am also particularly interested in relationships and how we relate to significant others in our lives.
I am happy to work with clients for either long or short term counselling.
