About me

Hi, I’m Louise and I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in the Nottingham area.

Welcome to my listing! And thanks for stopping to see if I may be the therapist for you. I am aware of how much information you are currently sifting through to find the right therapist for you, it’s a lot right! I hope you get everything you need from my profile below.  I have also attached a few videos so you could see me move and hear my voice. Please drop me a call, text or email if you aren’t sure of anything or would just like a relaxed chat about therapy. Good luck with your search!

My aim as a therapist is to focus on finding a flexible way for everyone to access therapy.  Having previously worked shifts I am aware of the difficulties of having a busy life that does not fit into the average 9-5 template and how this can make accessing weekly appointments difficult. I struggled to find my therapist when I was working shifts and I would like to offer my clients a different way of working. Whether you work shifts or just have a busy forever changing calendar, my practice “Louise Parr Psychotherapy and Counselling” can offer you a flexible way of working, booking sessions week by week. This takes away the commitment of attending at the same time and date.

Consistent therapy is proven to be so important for the therapeutic process and as such I will aim to still schedule sessions weekly with my clients.

How can counselling improve and benefit your life and future?

We can often find ourselves feeling lost and disconnected from ourselves, the outside world, and others. This can be due to stress, traumatic events and experiences or can just be a natural consequence of being part of a fast-paced, ever-changing world. Therapy can provide you with the chance to reconnect, to find a new awareness and to establish a newfound ability for self-reflection.

I aim to offer a warm, relaxed, safe contained space to explore and process emotions and life experiences. A space that is nonjudgmental, where you are listened to and where you can laugh, cry and most importantly be human!

My mission is to normalise Psychotherapy and encourage my clients to view therapy as a vital part of growing, healing, and navigating this difficult world.

By working at your pace safely and ethically, we are able to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and rapport.

No issues are too big, you are not too much, and everyone is welcome.

I am a warm, patient, and non-judgemental person who truly wants the best for my clients. I promote independence and autonomy and aim to walk alongside you in your therapy journey helping you find your own path to a happier future.

Please feel free to have a look at my social media, this may help you get more of a feel of me and how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a three-year BSc (Hons) degree in Humanistic and Integrative counselling and psychotherapy at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I am registered with the BACP, meaning I have reached and maintain a level of competence and adhere to their guidelines and framework. I attend monthly supervision to assist with my therapy.

I currently volunteer at Nottingham Counselling Service and I also work at Working Minds , offering short term therapy to unemployed clients and helping them explore barriers to getting back to work. I work with a wide range of clients including anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, self esteem, BPD, OCD, health anxiety, chronic illness ( please see the list below also and feel free to contact me to see if I can help you)

I have a special interest in neuroscience, dysregulation, and mindfulness.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
