About me
Hi, I can appreciate what it has taken for you to be searching these pages, I am also a parent and sometimes the parenting and self help books just don't work for your family. We all have our limits! Me included. Hopefully together, we can help with the difficulties and also support those amazing strengths your child has.
I offer non-directive play therapy which is a form of psychotherapy that uses play and art materials to help children aged 3-12 years old, express and explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This is how children communicate, they do not need words.
Simply, through play, children can act out experiences and rehearse possibilities for change using metaphor and symbolism. Below are some of the issues that play therapy can help with:
✓ Abuse and Trauma ✓ Care Experienced ✓ Autism / ADHD Neurodiversity ✓ Anxiety ✓ Attachment ✓ Bereavement / Loss ✓ Bullying / Friendship Difficulties ✓ Cultural Issues ✓ Delayed Development ✓ Low Self-Esteem
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BAPT registered, Play Therapist based in Ayr. I am passionate about providing a safe and supportive space for children to express themselves and work through their emotions.
I believe that every child is unique and deserving of a personalised approach. That's why I offer non-directive and child-centered 1-1 play therapy sessions that allow your child to take the lead and communicate their thoughts and feelings in their own way
As a qualified Play Therapist with an MSc in Play Therapy, I have extensive experience working with children and families. I'm also certified in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and have a background in Children and Families Social Work (BA Hons, Social Work). I love working with children and witnessing their amazing powers to heal, learn and grow. I have a wealth of knowledge, but alongside you and your child, I am always willing to learn more.

Further information
The benefit of play therapy lies in its ability to engage children in what they naturally do best, play, within a safe and supportive environment.
I aim to offer a safe space within Enlightened Minds Play room in Ayr and a therapeutic relationship with the child.
This approach enables me to assist children in understanding their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, making sense of their experiences, as well as developing effective strategies for change when necessary.
While the details of play therapy remain confidential, I emphasise collaboration with the key figures in the child’s life by identifying themes that emerge during play.
The process begins with the gathering of the child’s developmental history, strengths and difficulties and an initial assessment to determine the suitability of play therapy, followed by regular reviews and reports as needed.
Please do not hesitate to reach out, and ask any questions you may have. I aim to return your call within one working day.
