About me
Individual, Couples & Relationship Counselling in Westhill, Aberdeenshire
Have you been carrying this on your own?
Perhaps you've been trying to make sense of how you're feeling for a while.
You may have talked things through with friends, read books, listened to podcasts, or simply hoped that things would improve with time.
Yet you know something still doesn't feel quite right.
From the outside, you may appear to be coping. You keep going, meet your responsibilities and carry on with everyday life. But inside, you might feel anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or caught in patterns you can't quite understand.
If this feels familiar, you don't have to figure it out on your own.
A space to understand yourself
Counselling isn't about someone telling you what to do.
It's about having the time and space to slow things down, become curious about your experience and begin to understand yourself more deeply.
Often, it's through understanding ourselves and not judging ourselves that change begins.
Mind and body
Sometimes our bodies notice what our minds have been trying to push aside.
Alongside counselling, I bring over 15 years' experience teaching yoga and breathwork. While talking remains at the heart of therapy, where it feels helpful we may also use simple breathing or awareness practices to support emotional regulation and help you reconnect with yourself.
Relationship counselling
Relationships can leave us feeling deeply connected, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, misunderstood and alone.
You may be having the same conversations over and over again, struggling to communicate, recovering from a breach of trust, or wondering how your relationship has reached this point.
Rather than focusing on who's right or wrong, we'll work together to understand the patterns between you and create new ways of communicating and relating to one another.
My relationship work draws on Attachment Theory, the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), IMAGO Relationship Therapy, Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and The Developmental Model.
Rather than focusing on one fixed way of working, these approaches help us understand the patterns between you, how disconnection happens, and what gets in the way of feeling heard, safe and understood in your relationship.
I always adapt our work to the relationship in front of me, so we can work with what is actually happening for you, rather than a set formula.
Taking the first step
Beginning counselling can feel like a big step.
Our first session is simply an opportunity to meet, explore what's been happening for you, and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
You don't need to have all the answers before you begin.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
