About me

I offer traditional face-to-face therapeutic counselling at my counselling room in Upwood, but I also offer counselling sessions outside and sometimes find that simply being among nature can significantly add to the therapeutic experience. Inside or outside is, as always, your choice. Whichever setting you choose, we can work together to address whatever difficulties you face, within a calm, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.

I believe with the right support, there is potential for change, which can allow us to lead more fulfilling lives. Having the space to explore aspects of your life with a qualified therapist can lead to a fresh perspective on life, galvanising lasting change and new hope.

People may consider having counselling for many reasons but taking that first step can be the hardest of all. Sometimes it takes a lot of courage and I recognise how difficult that can be. If you are thinking of it, I encourage you to give it a try.

I believe the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client to be a key part of the healing process and so it is important to me that you feel comfortable.  Please feel free to get in touch and we can have a brief chat about what you are hoping to achieve through counselling. Then, you can decide if you would like to book an initial session where we can talk in more detail.

I work with adults and young people and offer short or long term work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
