About me
Hello, I’m Lorraine, pleased to introduce myself. I am a fully qualified, experienced Psychotherapist and Supervisor, I have been a therapist for over 30 years working in various roles within the NHS and in private practice. My experience is predominantly in Mental Health, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism and Learning Disabilities, working with young people and adults. I am accredited with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and fully insured. I can offer confidential therapy and supervision sessions, face to face or online in the Stoke-On-Trent or Cheshire Area.
I am a warm, approachable person, and I reflect this in my therapeutic approach. I will provide you with an empathic and non-judgemental relationship within which we can work together. I believe that the most important part of the therapy is the relationship we develop together, so that we can become partners in this shared process. It is so important that you feel enabled to explore your challenges within a relationship based on trust and understanding.
I have many therapeutic skills combined with psychological knowledge and understanding, acquired over my years in practice, this enables me to support your individual needs, offering an integrative approach to therapy and/or supervision.
Some of the more frequent difficulties I have worked over the years are:
- Anxiety - social anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic attacks, phobias, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety,
- Resource strategies - I can support you in developing resources to manage anxiety, stress and post-traumatic symptoms.
- Trauma - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), abuse (historical or recent, sexual, physical and emotional) and bullying (adults and young people).
- Attachment difficulties and family dynamics – exploring how historical attachments can influence relationships and the trust you build with others, recognising resource strategies to help you manage presenting symptoms.
- Loss and bereavement, I can support you through grief. Loss can also include breakdown in relationships or work stress and changes of life adjustment issues.
- Depression and mood swings - I can support you to identify triggering factors that may affect your mood and mental health. Together we can find strategies to help you become more aware of these and find resources to help you manage through more difficult times. I can help you to feel more in control of your life again.
- Whether you’re facing challenges or seeking personal growth, I am here to support you. If you are interested in learning more, you can email/call/text me to book a session.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
