About me

At times we can feel stuck or anxious about life - it can even leave us exhausted and shattered from trying to be strong. This can be caused by many things such as anxiety, depression, feeling low, angry or lonely, stresses in our relationships - whether that’s family, friends or work.

How can I help? You may find it’s hard to talk to family and friends and you need that one person who takes time to listen, so talking to a therapist can be hugely beneficial.

I can help you make sense of things and understand yourself better - and by bringing my skills and knowledge I can help you to resolve complicated feelings or find ways to live with them. I provide a safe and supportive environment where you can lay out everything that is troubling you and together we can look to make sense of those things that seem difficult and daunting.

In our sessions we will reflect on different systems you have been involved with, i.e. family, friends, work and relationships.  We will begin to see any patterns emerging and the role that you may take within different systems.  Looking through this lens, together we can begin to understand  behaviours, both yours and others, that may have been formed consciously or unconsciously.

These patterns will have formed in the past and are often out of your awareness but our work allows them to be understood and change becomes possible.

I work with individuals and couples - and offer both short and long-term support.  I’ve worked extensively in all areas of support, including family therapy, relationship difficulties and breakdowns, childhood traumas and the impact of this on your life.

I offer that space for you to address whatever it is that you are struggling with.  It may be something from your past or something that you are dealing with now, or both. Our first meeting will look to determine what you want to get from our sessions and, from there, to develop a plan on how we can get there.

If you feel anxious about coming for counselling and you’re wondering if it’s going to be right for you, please feel that you can email me or give me a call if you would like to chat things over before making a decision or even if you would just like to get a sense of who I am and how we may work together.

I work either online or face to face at my practice in Randolph Place, Edinburgh.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
