Reg. MBACP, Psychodynamic Counsellor; Systemic Counsellor

About me

I am an experienced counsellor working with individuals and couples who are ready to explore the possibilities for a happier and healthier life - particularly if they are feeling sad, depressed, lonely or anxious.

Making an approach to a counsellor, especially for the first time, is a big step. I know as I’ve been there too. As a result, I realised that it is possible to take control and make changes.  I offer help over a wide range of personal issues - such as social anxiety, low self-esteem, work or relationship related stress - and I offer both short and long-term support.

Many people are put off coming for counselling as they are worried it will be seen as a sign of weakness. Nothing could be further from the truth. Reaching a point where you know that something isn’t right and then asking for help takes a great deal of courage.

If you’ve never been for counselling before, it may feel like a huge step to take. Coming for counselling can give you a sense of taking control at a time when perhaps you may feel like things around you are out with your control.

You may feel apprehensive about confronting and exploring painful feelings you may not have been able to share with friends or family, but I’ll work slowly with you in a gentle way keeping you at the heart of our work at all times.

I will work collaboratively with you to address whatever it is that you are struggling with.  It may be something from your past or something that you are dealing with now, or both.  You may be feeling upset about a situation or feeling sad and not sure why, you may be experiencing anxiety, depression or have family issues you want to address.  You may feel stuck or just want to understand yourself better.

If you feel anxious about coming for counselling and you’re wondering if it’s going to be right for you, please feel that you can email me or give me a call if you would like to chat things over before making a decision or even if you would just like to get a sense of who I am and how we may work together.

I can provide you with a confidential space, be it online or at my Randolph Place Practice in Edinburgh – but more importantly, a way to be truly heard.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
