Lisa Woolfenden, Qualified Registered Counsellor, MBACP, Dip.Couns.
Hello, my name is Lisa, I’m a qualified registered counsellor based in Knutsford, Cheshire. Many of us have faced times in our lives where we have encountered struggles and feel overwhelmed, not knowing how to move forward or need help to find the right coping strategies for our needs. You may have support from people around you and gain comfort from this, although sometimes what you want to talk about may not be simply shared, this is when counselling could help.
You maybe experiencing problems such as anxiety, general anxiety disorder (GAD), relationship issues, depression, panic disorder or feeling sad to name a few. Counselling can provide you with a safe space where you can to speak to someone about what’s troubling you and offers an opportunity to be able to work together towards the results you may desire.
I have a calm presence, warm and approachable and offer you a safe and comfortable space where you can talk about whatever you feel you want to explore and work through. I pride myself on being real, honest and deeply empathetic and able to work with you at your own pace. I use a variety of different techniques which are flexible to your needs as I believe everyone and their circumstances are unique requiring a personal and honest approach.
Some approaches I use are evidence based including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which identifies your patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour and can bring about a more positive mind-set, helping problems such as anxiety and depression. Also trained to share the practice of emotional freedom technique (EFT) which can reduce anxieties, panic, phobias and offers a sense of calmness. I also work using creative therapies to help you explore feelings and relationship dynamics; especially if you find it difficult to express with words how you are feeling which offers you a different perspectives on yourself, your relationships and changes that you may like.
I have a depth of experience working with those who have been affected by cancer; including patients, family members, friends and carers and how this has impacted on them in so many different ways. Other areas of experience include anxiety, loss, self-identify, depression and self-worth and how to move forward or gain different perspectives.
I offer 'walk and talk' counselling sessions as located near Tatton Park. This is often very peaceful and provides a sense of well-being and calmness.
Please feel free to call me to see how we can work together on whatever is happening in your life. Just taking that one small step to help yourself takes courage and I am here to listen and work with you at this particular moment in your life.
