About me

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted or simply finding that life has become harder to manage than it once was. Perhaps you've experienced trauma, a difficult relationship, loss, low self-esteem or are carrying the weight of experiences that continue to affect your everyday life. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it alone.

My aim is to provide a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe enough to talk openly and honestly. Together, we will explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you, helping you gain greater understanding, develop healthier coping strategies and move towards the life you want to live.

I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor with over 15 years' experience supporting adults, children and young people. Being integrative means I tailor therapy to you as an individual rather than expecting you to fit one particular counselling model. Every person is unique, and I believe therapy should reflect that.

Throughout my career I have worked extensively with people affected by trauma, domestic abuse, sexual violence, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions and low self-esteem. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how past experiences can continue to influence thoughts, emotions, relationships and behaviour.

Alongside my private practice, I am a Lecturer in Counselling and a Clinical Lead for a counselling charity. These roles enable me to remain engaged with current therapeutic research, ethical practice and the development of future counsellors, ensuring my work continues to be informed by the latest knowledge while remaining grounded in compassion and genuine human connection.

I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling for adults and young people, either online or in person from my practice in Gloucestershire.

Finding the right counsellor is an important decision. I offer an initial conversation where we can discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to achieve and whether I am the right person to support you. There is no obligation—simply an opportunity to see if we feel like a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am committed to working within its Ethical Framework. Regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development form an important part of my practice, ensuring that my work remains safe, effective and informed by current research.

My qualifications include:

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
  • Qualified Block Clearance Therapist (BCT)

Over the past 15 years I have worked across a variety of settings including private practice, schools, specialist domestic abuse and sexual violence services, charities and higher education. This breadth of experience allows me to support clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties while adapting my approach to meet individual needs.

For clients who are interested, I also offer Block Clearance Therapy. This therapeutic approach focuses on identifying and releasing unhelpful subconscious patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress, limiting beliefs or repetitive behaviours. Used alongside counselling where appropriate, it can help clients develop new perspectives and healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
