About me

Counselling can provide an understanding of issues which can prevent us from enjoying life, reaching our potential and having healthy, happy relationships.  We are all affected by life's journey and can often have deep-rooted, painful issues that may be limiting us.  I offer a safe, confidential and empathic space where together we can gain awareness of unconscious behaviour, work to overcome issues and facilitate positive change.  I can help you to explore your emotions, create new insights and break troubling thoughts or behaviour patterns.

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor with over 8 years' experience, which means I  draw on a variety of theories to support my work. I believe that the relationship that is created between a client and their counsellor plays a significant part in the counselling process.  I aim to work with you in such a way that will support you as you address difficult, painful issues from your past or present.  You might be feeling low, anxious, confused or struggling with something specific.    I provide a basis on which to explore new or different ways of living your life and relationships.

I  also work with young people to reduce emotional barriers to learning and lots of other issues such as anxiety, identity, depression, self-esteem and irrational fears that may be impacting their development.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
