About me
You might feel like you’re holding a lot on your own, unsure how to make sense of it, or where to begin. Welcome, Im Lisa. I offer sessions in person and online from Hackney, London.
You may be coming with a clear sense of what’s bringing you here. Perhaps anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, depression, or a feeling of being stuck, numb, or disconnected from yourself. You might struggle with self-esteem or find it hard to trust yourself. It could be the weight of past trauma or difficult early experiences. Or it may feel harder to name.
There may be a sense that something feels ‘off’, that you’re not quite yourself. You might also find yourself questioning who that self really is.
If you come from another cultural background, or have moved to the UK, you may be navigating the challenges of transition, identity, and change in an ever-shifting world.
Or you may simply be looking for a space that is just for you, somewhere you can speak freely and unfiltered. A space to make sense of your experiences, gain clarity, and support your personal growth.
How I work
I recognise that people come with their own history, experiences, culture, and unique way of being. I work with this in mind, working collaboratively, adapting to individual needs and pace, in a space that feels compassionate, supportive and down-to-earth.
Through working together, we can come to understand the patterns, thoughts and beliefs that have shaped you, and those that may still be holding you back. By gently exploring the parts of yourself that feel unfamiliar, hidden, or pushed aside, we can begin to loosen the grip of what no longer serves you, helping you feel less stuck in familiar patterns and more able to respond to life with greater clarity and choice.
Over time, this might mean feeling more at ease within yourself, more able to express your needs and boundaries, and less weighed down by what you’ve been carrying. You may begin to feel more like your true self, and more connected in your relationships, relating in healthier, authentic ways to yourself, to others, and to the world around you.
Next Steps
I know how important it is to find someone you feel comfortable with.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone or video call, where we can talk a little about what’s going on for you and what you’re hoping for from therapy. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about how I work, with no obligation to book.
This is a chance for you to get a sense of me and whether it feels like the right fit for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
BACP Accredited Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling Skills — London, UK
As well as my private practice, I bring experience from both the NHS service, providing online counselling to culturally diverse clients across London, and the charity sector, where I delivered low-cost in person counselling within the London Borough of Islington.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
My approach is drawn primarily from humanistic and psychodynamic traditions. I often use attachment theory as a guiding framework. I’m particularly interested in how early relationships shape our patterns of connection with others and ourselves, as well as the roles we come to occupy within our families, including among siblings. Alongside these theoretical foundations, I see therapy as fundamentally relational.
