About me
I'm Lisa and I work with adults who are experiencing Grief, Low Mood, Anxiety, Family or Relationship issues, and low self-esteem. Perhaps you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, or simply just need a space to unpack your thoughts, and that's ok too.
A genuine human connection is really important for me, and I pride myself on cultivating an authentic space, where you will be met with compassion and non-judgement. Sometimes talking to those closest to us is often not an option, or may not be available to you and it can feel easier to seek support from someone who is impartial to your day to day life.
I offer a sense of calm and encourage self-awareness and understanding, working collaboratively to explore your experiences - I want to get to know you, however you present.
Through my work at a local hospice, I have particular experience supporting people through Loss, Grief and Bereavement.
I work face to face from my private practice in central Horsham, and also offer online sessions UK Wide, via a secure video link or on the telephone, offering accessibility, choice and convenience.
If you would like to talk, I would be glad to hear from you and we can schedule in an initial chat. This will also enable you to get a feel if I am the right counsellor for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I bring experience to my counselling practice, and hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
Offering a genuine human connection is really important for me, providing an environment where you can feel safe to explore your inner self and gain a greater insight into the challenges you are facing.
I offer compassion, and an empathetic, non-judgemental approach, by encouraging self-awareness and understanding, we will collaboratively explore your experiences, thoughts and emotions at your own pace.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Through my work at a local hospice, I have specific training and experience with supporting individuals through the challenges of grief and bereavement.
I also have experience of working in a professional corporate setting and understand the stresses and pressures that individuals can face at work, which can often disrupt our work/life balance.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

What happens when you make contact?
Firstly, we would have an initial informal chat to discuss what has brought you to seek counselling, and to provide the opportunity for you to get to know me and ask any questions you may have. You will often get a sense following an initial chat whether you feel comfortable to move forwards. I always encourage speaking with a few counsellors to get a feel for how people work, and who you connect and feel most comfortable with. You will know!
Often we don't know how many sessions are required until we start the process, and this can vary from person to person. So I work on an open ended basis and review periodically. This is something that is discussed during our initial chat and throughout our time together, and tailored to meet your specific needs.
