About me

Hi, I am Lisa! I am a person-centred trauma-informed counsellor, with over half a decade experience of helping adults on their journey through life’s relational and sexual trauma, helping them understand self better, build personal growth and emotional wellbeing, and heal after experiencing relational or sexual trauma through 1-to-1 counselling sessions.

Many of my clients have been feeling lost, low, anxious, misunderstood, mistrusting of self and others, and like they have to keep it all together for the sake of self and others. A sense of floating through life instead of actually living it. They have left sessions with myself feeling more like themselves, more sure and trusting, less anxious, and more in control of life. If you are seeking support through your traumas, wanting to explore specific experiences or issues, or you are hoping to build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and others around you, then I provide a space for you to explore anything safely and freely.

Taking on new clients both online and in-person, check below in availability to see what is available.

How I Work

Online (video) counselling ensures a flexible and more accessible way of working together from wherever you are. This can be helpful if your schedule is busy, travel isn't too accessible, or you live outside of Swindon but would still want to work with me. The online counselling space created is one that will feel safe, calming, and personal to you.

Face-to-face (in person) counselling offers you a confidential, safe space curated by myself where you can escape and share what you want and need. In-person sessions can be helpful when there is no access to doing sessions online, struggle to connect through online mediums, and you want a separation from the counselling work and home.

The work we do is open-ended. Whether you want short-term or long-term counselling, we can discuss the support you need and do what is best for you in the moment.

If this sounds like something you want from a counsellor, then send me a message on here or on WhatsApp and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Or book in a free call through this link - https://calendly.com/ldocounselling/20min.

I look forward to being part of your journey!

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Counselling (L7).

I have lots of experience working at a charity that specifically helped support people who had experienced historic or recent sexual trauma, and were struggling with their mental health after. I have also worked within a secondary school and college environment, supporting students with their mental health, and the different traumas they have experienced.

Recent CPD have covered topics such as

  • Self-harm and Suicide Awareness & Prevention
  • Child Sexual Abuse
  • Parts Work
  • Loneliness, and more.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
