About me

Hey, I am Lisa. I am a person-centred counsellor that helps people on their journey through life’s challenges, understanding self, fostering personal growth and emotional well-being, and healing through 1:1 counselling sessions.

Life often has its ups and downs, and it can be tough to talk to the people we have around us due to a variety of reasons. If you are seeking support through life’s challenges, wanting to explore certain experiences or issues, or you are hoping to build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and others around you, then I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore anything freely.

My approach is both relational and collaborative. I believe that the relationship between yourself and the counsellor should be at the foundation of the counselling. This approach in counselling reflects what someone needs at their core - a deep respect for your unique experiences with a focus on the healing power of relationships. Within the counselling relationship we can create a safe, supportive space to explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences, developing self understanding and purposeful change.

And with the collaborative approach, there is a focus on ensuring there is a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel heard, seen, and respected. Together, we will explore your feelings and thoughts at a pace that is best suited for you, working as a team to understand the things you need in life, and to empower you to make purposeful changes in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP registered individual membership with a MA in Clinical Counselling. Throughout my training I spent time working at an organisation that specifically helped support people with a range of emotional and mental health issues after they experienced sexual assault. My time spent working in that organisation has created an interest in trauma work. I currently work in a secondary school as a school counsellor, but in my private practice will only be working with adults.

To maintain my ability to best support my clients, I keep up with CPD and readings on relevant topics. This is also to help sustain my interest in learning and improving self.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
