About me
Who do I work with?
You're someone others rely on but it's starting to take a toll
I often work with people who find themselves consistently seen as the reliable one: used to being the competent, calm and strong one in their personal and professional lives. You might be feeling overwhelmed, constantly on edge, emotionally drained, or strangely numb. Maybe you're starting to wonder how long you can keep going like this.
If you've experienced trauma
Most of my therapeutic experience comes from working with people who have experienced trauma, abuse, or discrimination in their lives. These experiences can show up in many ways affecting you day-to-day, including flashbacks, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, or difficulties with anger and anxiety.
How I work
We start by making sense of your experiences together. We look at how your past experiences, relationships, and life events have shaped the patterns you're stuck in now. This helps you understand why things feel the way they do and what might help.
I aim to be both straightforward and supportive. I’ll bring psychological knowledge and tools, and you bring your experience. We use both to shape a way of working that fits you. We’ll find practical strategies to help you feel more connected to yourself, and better able to move forward in a way that feels right for you. I aim to provide a flexible, adaptable process that evolves as you grow and supports you to create a future that belongs to you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 12 years’ experience in the mental health sector. I've worked as a support worker, supporting individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties in the community and in hospital. I've provided both individual and group therapy across the third sector, NHS, private, and independent services for the last 9.5 years, following training in pluralistic counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and the completion of my doctorate in counselling psychology. Most of my experience has been working with complex trauma through the impact of childhood trauma, neglect, and sexual abuse.
I've also held leadership roles, including team leader for a trauma support service and management positions in the retail sector, giving me extensive experience in supervising teams, coordinating services, and promoting staff wellbeing and development.
My Masters and Doctorate research focused on PTSD and Complex PTSD in Armed Forces veterans, including treatment seeking behaviours, presenting symptoms and coping styles and engagement with therapy. I have presented this research in research conferences to raise awareness for consideration of best practice in treatment.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
