About me
Welcome
Hello, my name is Lisa, and I'd really like to help you if I can.
You may be feeling anxious, stuck, or isolated. Perhaps you’ve lost confidence or your sense of who you are. You might feel like you are struggling right now, or you might not know what you need - only that something has to change.
Who do I help?
My clients are often thoughtful, caring people who spend a lot of time supporting others but rarely feel supported themselves. If you are someone who is looking for a supportive and authentic therapeutic relationship where you can explore yourself more deeply and begin to understand what you need to move forward then I would really like to help you.
How do I help?
As a deeply compassionate therapist, I will offer you a space where you can explore your own thoughts and feelings. I will be someone who will listen, possibly like no-one has ever really listened to you before, to help you to feel deeply valued and so that you can start to understand yourself better and make the changes you want to see in your life.
I am passionate about therapy because I see the powerful effects it has on people . To me, every client is unique. In sessions, I listen closely and hold all the strands of what is said, digging a little deeper together to see what you unearth and discover about yourself. As a therapist I aim to be authentic, compassionate and 100% accepting of whatever my clients bring, which I hope in turn means your mental health will improve, your relationships will be strengthened and you ultimately have much more self-awareness .
What I can help with:
I feel privileged to have helped many people who have come to therapy to work on:
- Anxiety and panic disorders
- Depression
- Neurodivergence - autism and ADHD
- Anger management issues
- Grief and loss following bereavement
- Relationship difficulties
- Trauma
- Emotional abuse
- Childhood sexual abuse
- Gender identity
- Self-harm
- Suicidal ideation
- Addiction
Where I am and how to connect
I am a person-centred counsellor with rooms in central Canterbury and Hythe. I also offer sessions via Zoom or on the phone. You can book a free introductory phone chat (or via Zoom if preferred) to see if working with me feels right for you. If you then decide that I would be the right counsellor for you, you can book a session at a convenient day and time from Tuesday to Friday. I work with adults and young people from the age of 16.
What to expect from your first session
I will ask you more about what brings you to counselling and what you would like to get from your sessions. You make the decisions about what to talk about and I will never steer you in any direction other than the one you chose to take. I believe that you will know what you need to talk about and that wherever that takes you will be a way for you to start to understand yourself better and to work out how to make any changes that might feel right for you. Thank you for taking the time to read and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
