About me

Hello, I'm Lianne. A Person-Centred counsellor, wishing to provide you with a warm, safe space where you can talk freely & without judgement. I firmly believe you are the expert of your own experience, and my role will be to stand alongside you, as you unpack any thoughts & feelings that come to the surface around past or present issues. The hope is, in time, you will be able to gain clarity on these thoughts & feelings, able to process them more fully & make informed decisions for yourself going forward. This process can lead to building better self-confidence, self-esteem, setting healthier boundaries & finding your real-self.

I have worked extensively with a large number of issues, including; complex trauma, anxiety/depression, self-concept. I will always work with your best interests at the forefront, and am committed to working within my capabilities. I can work integratively, combining therapies/tools/techniques, to give you a positive experience of the counselling process.

I don't underestimate how hard it can be to reach out for help. Life issues can be overwhelming & feel impossible to manage. When working together, you will not be on your own. Our space is confidential; one where your voice will be heard, listened to & understood. A space where you can be held safely whilst exploring what is hurting you the most.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I am a fully qualified counsellor & registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Alongside being person-centred qualified, I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and have worked extensively with complex trauma.  I am a REWIND Therapist (treating trauma & PTSD) and have a trauma-informed approach to counselling.

Some of the issues I have worked with include; self-concept (low self-worth, low self-esteem, low confidence), depression, anxiety, PTSD, complex-PTSD (C-PTSD), anger, sexuality, historic abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, emotional abuse, coercion and control, trauma, fears, phobias, life transitions, bereavement, relationship issues, identity issues. However, this list is not exhaustive, and I would be more than happy to talk through your current concerns to figure out if I can offer you the right support.

I can work face-to-face, remotely or via the telephone with you.  I am based in a lovely period property in Southport, on Lord Street, on the first floor of the building.  The building is safe, secure and quiet, with stairs of lift access.  I am in the process of newly decorating my counselling space - photos available soon.  I am a 5-minute walk from Southport train station, on the main bus routes and there are several car parks around the area that are either free to park or charge a minimal fee - please do contact me for more information on this.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I am based on the first floor of a building, which has a lift that is accessible to my office. To enter the building, there are double doors to the front, which can open for wheelchair access. There is a very small (1inch) step into the property.
