About me
I'm Lesley, I am a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist with almost 20 years of experience in Hearing Therapy.
I am a member of the British Association for counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP registration number 397174) and am registered with the Academy of Health Care Science AHCS - number 58323).
I am based in Stockport, Greater Manchester and am also available nationally or internationally via video call.
My approach
I use an integrative approach encompassing person centred theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis where needed.
How counselling can help
Counselling can be difficult, daunting, profound, liberating, challenging and life changing. The process aims to bring about change and self-awareness. It is a process that may take some time before real change can be noticed. It can be incredibly rewarding and empowering. Most people enter therapy because of a difficulty in their life. Therapy allows for responsibility and accountability to deal with difficulties as an adult.
My ethos: I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be cared for and listened to with empathy and without judgement in a respectful and genuine way. If we decide that I am the right therapist for you I will endeavour to offer my genuine self with confidentiality, empathy, care and respect to aid your personal growth.
What to expect from your first session
The first session involves discussing and agreeing on a contract or working on agreeing and setting goals based on your wants and needs. This may change and can be renegotiated in later sessions. The number of sessions are determined by your choices and how you and I feel that you are progressing.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
