Lesley Snowdon. Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
During the current difficult times I am offering therapy at a reduced rate for those who have had to isolate and any frontline workers struggling with the added demands placed upon them in their roles.
Isolation is difficult for everyone, feelings of loneliness and fear can overwhelm those alone and relationship issues may arise for those isolating with family. Talking can help. Sessions offered via telephone, Skype or Facetime/Whatsapp video platforms.
If you have private health insurance check with your provider as sessions may be covered in your policy.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor offering a confidential Counselling Service, run in a peaceful, private environment, with free parking. I am BUPA and NOSS registered. As a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist I use both the Transactional Analysis and Person Centred approaches in my practice. This I feel offers my clients a wide range of strategies to enable them to cope better with what life throws at them. We all experience times when we feel sad, unsettled or unable to change habits we are unhappy with. There are times when we don’t know which way to turn and are afraid to burden our closest friends or relatives. Counselling offers you a safe, friendly environment to express any feelings, worries or concerns without fear of recriminations or judgement. Anyone can benefit from counselling, it can be useful when experiencing a crisis or a trauma or to deepen self-awareness. By talking to a professional counsellor, you can develop options for changing the way you relate to others and to yourself.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have level 5 Diploma in Person Centred Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a People Practitioner Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling from TA Works in Oxford. I have run my own private practice for the past 15 years and also worked as a volunteer counsellor at a local GP surgery. I undertake regular supervision and continued professional development to maintain high standards.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Working with Lesley has enabled me to look not just at my attitude to food and body image, but also the underlying reasons behind what I think about them. For the first time in my life I feel that I understand my motivations and I have been amazed at the difference this has made to me. It's given me a greater sense of control over my life and a new appreciation of my body shape and eating patterns. I feel as if I can now make the changes I've always wanted to make. I would recommend Lesley to anyone who feels they have struggled with their weight or attitude to food.
Transactional Analysis makes perfect sense. It helped me to clearly understand how my thought processes had led me to where I was today. More importantly, it showed how I could alter my thought processes and challenge learned behaviours. It enabled me to take control. Lesley Snowdon is an excellent practitioner; I would not hesitate to recommend both Lesley and T.A.
Having completed the 12-week Tried Every Diet programme at the end of 2012, I got through my first Christmas without gaining a load of weight or feeling guilty about everything to do with food. Now 6 months on, I am still working with Lesley but this time in her gym. 15 pounds and counting and this time with a new mind-set towards food, it seems to be staying off, with no (or hardly any) cravings and definitely no sabotage of the healthy eating plan. Sorting my head out before attempting to start healthy eating and exercise has really done the trick and I would thoroughly recommend the ‘TED’ programme - it really works.
