About me
Welcome to my practice, Leah's Pathway To Healing. My name is Leah, and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.
My practice is currently a remote-only practice, offering counselling through online video and telephone sessions. I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, with sessions available weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
My work is underpinned by trauma-informed practice, which promotes collaboration, autonomy and safety. Whatever brings you to counselling, I aim to create a space that feels empowering and unfiltered, where you can be open and fully yourself.
My practice is rooted in integrative counselling, which means I am able to draw upon more than one therapeutic approach when working with clients. My work is primarily influenced by person-centred therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and attachment theory.
I believe counselling is about both understanding where we have come from and creating space for where we want to go. Together, we can explore your experiences, work through what may be keeping you 'stuck', and support you in moving towards meaningful change.
10-15 minute Pre-Counselling Consultation (free, remote): Choosing a counsellor can feel like a difficult decision! If you are unsure whether I am the right counsellor for you, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange a free pre-counselling consultation (remote). This gives us a chance to briefly connect, ask any initial questions, and explore whether an assessment feels like the right next step.
60 minute Assessment (£45, remote): Before we decide whether to work together, we will arrange a 60-minute assessment (£45). This is a more in-depth session than the pre-counselling consultation, where we can explore what has brought you to counselling, the experiences that have shaped you, and what you hope to gain from counselling. Together, we will consider whether my practice feels suitable for your needs at this time.
Training, qualifications & experience
My counselling training began in 2021, and I qualified in 2024 with a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice.
My clinical experience began in perinatal mental health, where I provided one-to-one counselling to parents experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties during the postnatal period. I then undertook a clinical placement within a specialist organisation, providing counselling to adults affected by historical sexual abuse and incest, including clients engaging in pre-trial therapy.
Across these roles, I have developed a trauma-informed approach that prioritises safety, trust, collaboration, choice, and empowerment. I have provided short-, medium-, and long-term counselling, working with clients in person, online, and by telephone.
I currently practice as a counsellor both independently and as a volunteer within an organisation, while also working as a counselling lecturer at a further education college.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
