About me

Welcome to my profile!
I am a person centred therapist committed to creating a compassionate non judgemental environment where you can feel safe to explore the underlying causes of challenges you face. I help people to navigate their way through past experiences and current struggles to identify root causes that may be impacting their thoughts, emotions and behaviours. By exploring these foundations we can gain clarity and self awareness fostering the insight necessary to move forward. I use CBT techniques to help you address and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours with a focus on actionable strategies to recognise and challenge negative patterns in your life, helping to create new healthy habits.

Areas of focus:

  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression and mood regulation
  • self esteem and self acceptance
  • relationship difficulties
  • personal growth and life transitions.

If you have any reservations or concerns, I offer a free 10 minute phone call to help answer any questions you may have.

As well as a person centred therapist, I am also a holistic wellness practitioner (qualified personal trainer and nutritionist). If weight management or low self-esteem is an issue for you, we can work together to work on any eating behaviours or patterns and look at changing exercise motivations and incentives.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and I specialise in person-centred therapy. I have a BSc in psychology(accredited by the BPS) and an MSc in counselling and psychotherapy (accredited by the BACP).

Following this, I am a member of the B.A.C.P.

I have also done courses/additional training in:

Grief and bereavement, helping individuals to cope or overcome the loss of loved ones.

LGBTQ+

Psychological first aid (John Hopkins University).

Intrusive thoughts & anxiety.

Sessions are online and face to face in Kilmarnock (Kilmarnock Station Counselling Service, Kilmarnock Station, Station Brae, Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, KA1 2AF).

Please get in contact via email to book or send any initial questions you might have if phone calls are a source of anxiety for you.

If you choose to phone in- please leave a message for me to get back to you as I may not be able to answer if I am in a session with another client.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) Psychology from the University of the West of Scotland
  • MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy from Strathclyde University

I have experience with a wide range of problems and have taken additional courses in grief and bereavement and psychological first aid from the John Hopkins University.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
