About me

People look to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Perhaps you are feeling anxious and it’s getting in the way of you living how you’d like to. Or maybe you are experiencing a feeling of numbness and disconnect to those in your life. It might be that you've experienced a particular or multiple traumatic events, and you're dealing with the impact.

The idea of looking inward to help understand what’s going on around us can be a scary one, but it can be transformative. My approach is warm, thoughtful and down-to-earth, accompanying and supporting you in your journey.

I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw from multiple approaches to suit you and your circumstances. I focus on building a genuine and trusting relationship as an active participant in the therapy. I seek to offer you feedback, insight and to gently challenge you where it feels appropriate.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with a Masters (MA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7).

I have over 10 years of experience supporting people, including in mental health charities, abuse and trauma services, and working with people from different cultures and groups, including neurodivergent people and those from our LGBTQIA+ community. I recognise that people are completely unique with their own histories and tailor my approach to each individual, so that together we can get closer to who you are and what you might want to do in order to move forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Masters (MA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, UWE (Level 7)
  • Counselling skills certificate, University of West of England

Alongside my private practice, I work as a therapist and service coordinator for a women's mental health charity. I have also been a counsellor for Bristol Mind and for Next Link Domestic Abuse Services. Outside of my therapy role, I have worked in the charity sector for over ten years, helping to organise and run services for the local community.

Outside of working, I have volunteered supporting socially isolated people, people experiencing mental health crises, and supporting refugees.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
