About me
There are times in our lives where we need to feel heard. Not just listened to, but truly heard. When we are stuck, overwhelmed, when we have lost our direction or our sense of worth, our thoughts and feelings can seem complicated and tangled. Counselling can help clear the fog and help you get back to you.
Hi, I'm Lauren and I am passionate about supporting people to grow through difficult feelings and adversity. My approach has a strong person-centred foundation, which means that I believe that you are the expert on you; my role is to assist you in recognising your own resources and strength and finding that part of you that may have been hidden for some time.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change".
In our sessions together, I will endeavour to help you feel genuinely accepted and comfortable to explore whatever is on your mind.
I will bring empathy, understanding and non-judgment. I will strive to be authentically me because let's face it this process can feel awkward at first. This is what can put so many people off this journey (yes I said the J word) - but that's what it is! You have already started this journey and it is my job to provide an environment where you experience welcoming warmth and to be alongside you as you venture out onto the next stage.
I offer face-to-face counselling in South Liverpool and online sessions. Please get in touch for a free initial consultation and we can go from there. Any questions, feel free to ask.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have extensive experience working in both adult and young person settings. Working with anxiety, bereavement, loss, trauma, relationships, struggles relating to living with neurodivergence in today's society and many more issues.
Within my private practice, I can see clients from age 16+.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I have a BSc Hons degree in Applied Psychology and Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I am committed to continuous professional and personal development, and have a special interest in Inner Child work, Inner Child and sexual abuse and somatic experiencing of trauma. My own research was written about coercive control (the invisible cage in domestic abuse) and complex PTSD related to this.
I am insured, have an enhanced DBS and attend regular clinical supervision as per the requirements of my membership to the BACP.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
