About me
Counselling can truly change lives when nothing else feels possible.
You may be finding things very difficult right now and feel that it’s the time to ask for help. You may feel anxious and worried all the time, you may feel low and hopeless. Something may have happened in your life that has left you feeling distressed or confused, or perhaps you just need to talk and be truly heard and understood. If any of this sounds familiar, counselling may be for you.
If you are worried that counselling is too expensive and not something you can realistically afford, please don't be. My aim is to help people access counselling regardless of their financial situation. Please do contact me if you have any worries about accessing counselling, and we will work together to make it happen for you.
I offer a free 30 minute (no obligation) consultation to enable you to get a sense of what counselling entails and to talk about what you are looking to gain from it. I strongly believe that you should feel happy and comfortable with whoever you choose as a counsellor and this is an opportunity for you to meet me and see if I am right for you.
I am an Integrative counsellor. I believe that there is no one type of therapy that fits all clients, and I will work with you to find what is right for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. They are usually at the same time and on the same day each week, but I understand that this isn't always possible and I will endeavour to accommodate any changes due to childcare needs or shift work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor and have obtained the following:
Level 2 in Counselling Skills
Level 3 in Counselling Studies
Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
I am always expanding my knowledge through continued professional development.
I have also written for the BACP’s flagship magazine “Therapy Today.” I continue to write a blog based around mental health issues, which can be found on my website.
I have been interviewed and quoted several times by the media on current mental health issues, most recently for The Independent newspaper.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
