About me

I'm Laura, a Clinical Psychologist and ISTDP therapist. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or repetitive. You may find yourself stuck in the same emotional or relationship patterns despite your best efforts to change. Therapy offers a space to understand what's happening and explore new ways forward. Perhaps you find yourself feeling low for little reason, struggling in relationships, feeling disconnected from yourself or others, overwhelmed by emotions, or reacting more strongly than you'd like. My approach to therapy is all about understanding and responding to your unique needs. I believe in creating a safe space where you can explore your emotions and experiences at a manageable pace. Together, we'll find the right balance between encouraging change and respecting your individual process. I believe the heart of effective therapy is an authentic, trusting and supportive relationship. For your peace of mind, I’m registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in addition to being fully insured and backed by a background check.

I’m trained in multiple therapeutic approaches but I primarily use Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP helps people understand why they keep getting stuck in the same emotional and relationship patterns. Together, we explore the emotions, fears, and patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, helping you develop greater freedom, self-understanding, and emotional resilience. Sessions are active, collaborative, and focused. Rather than simply talking about problems, we will often explore emotions as they arise in the room, helping you understand yourself more deeply and create lasting change. I will often invite you to slow down and pay attention to what you are feeling emotionally and physically in the moment, rather than only discussing events intellectually.

With my decade of diverse experience across various NHS settings, including community and inpatient services, I bring a wealth of knowledge in addressing a wide range of issues. My expertise spans relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, personality difficulties and more. In our sessions, I'll be right there with you, actively engaging and encouraging positive changes, while always keeping in mind that the power for change lies in your hands.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist is an important decision. If you're curious about how therapy might help, or would like to discuss whether we might be a good fit to work together, please get in touch.
