About me
Hi, I'm Laura, the founder of Bettyoucan, a counselling and therapeutic coaching service.
Whether you are seeking therapy, coaching, or a hybrid of both, for a specific reason or you are just struggling to feel like yourself and don't really know where to begin, I use person-centred therapy, with potential integrations where necessary, to enable you to explore what you need to and to empower you to be your true authentic self. Each person is an individual with their own specific story and so our sessions will be based around what you need and want to gain from therapy.
I offer an online/phone or face to face consultation, to briefly discuss what you are looking for and what you hope to gain from our session. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, for me to explain how I work and for us to both assess if we would be a good fit to work together.
I offer face to face or walk and talk therapy in Leigh and Bury depending on the day, online sessions, and a Hybrid of Coaching and Counselling should your goals be suited to this style of working. Enquire for more details and to discuss which would be the best fit for you.
There is also the option to opt for block buying 6, 9 or 12 sessions at a discounted rate, should this be your preference.
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently hold a level 7 MSc qualification in Counselling & Psychotherapy, and completed a primary research dissertation on Body Image and Self Worth.
I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), working within their ethical framework. I hold an enhanced DBS disclosure and have full insurance to practice.
I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and Health and Wellbeing Coach, so have experience in helping the physical side of a persons health as well as the mental and emotional.
I have done extra CPD courses in Eating Disorders, Domestic Abuse and CBT for Anxiety and Depression, and continue to develop my knowledge and practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
