About me
Hello, I'm Laura. I'm a qualified psychotherapist with over eight years experience, offering a calm, relational space for adults who are struggling emotionally and often quietly.
I offer therapy to adults who are living with loss, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of carrying more than they can easily name. Many people can relate to feeling stuck, tired or disconnected from themselves after experiences such as bereavement, relational trauma, prolonged stress or in times of high anxiety and uncertainty. I have personal experience and expertise in managing a long term health condition and understand the complexities of the uncertainty this often brings.
I work in a relational, humanistic and integrative way which means I place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work together. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel understood, emotionally safe and met at your own pace. Together, we can explore what is happening for you now, how your past experiences may still be shaping things and what you would like to move towards.
Alongside talking therapy, I hold an awareness of how stress and emotional experiences are carried in the body. This allows us to work gently and holistically, especially when words alone don't feel enough. I offer a calm, reflective space and work with limited availability, valuing depth, care and collaborative thinking.
I currently offer therapy online and have limited availability for in person sessions at The Lotus Centre, Mansfield.
Training, qualifications & experience
- 2014- 2017- BSc (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy
- 2024- Certificate in Body Psychotherapy
- 2025/ 2026- Diploma in Clinical Supervision
Alongside my formal training, I bring experience from a range of settings including private practice, fostering services, education and the voluntary sector. My work has given me an in depth understanding of the impact of relational trauma, attachment disruption and loss, as well as how these experiences are often held not only in the mind, but in the body.
I hold an awareness of how emotional experiences can create blocks to energy, expression or movement and how stress and trauma may show up physically. This allows me to work creatively and responsively, offering ways of working that are not limited to talking alone when words feel difficult or insufficient.
My systemic training has further expanded my thinking about relationships, helping me to understand individuals within the wider contexts of family, work, care systems and intergenerational patterns. Alongside my therapeutic work with individuals, I have supported young people as a school based therapist and worked alongside professionals such as social workers and teachers, offering reflective and therapeutic support.
Together, these experiences shape a thoughtful, relational and integrative approach, grounded in care and curiosity.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
