About me
Hi, I’m Kim, also known as the Barefoot Counsellor. I’m really glad you found your way here—looking for a therapist is a brave first step, and I’m honoured you’re considering me. So, let me share a bit about myself to help you decide if we’re the right fit. The name might make you think I’m all about the feet, but being barefoot is more about how I express my true self and stay grounded in the present. It’s part of my journey, though there’s no expectation for you to follow that in therapy.
As a qualified psychotherapist and member of the NCPS, I adopt a pluralistic approach to therapy, drawing from Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and creative therapies. My aim is to work collaboratively with you, respecting your strengths and life experiences, while helping you to achieve your therapeutic goals.
I'm passionate about the power of human connection—how being fully seen and heard, without judgment, can create real change. Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t have a voice, so I’m committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where you can share your story. I'm here to listen, and I look forward to walking this journey with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’ve been fortunate to work in health and social care for over seven years, and I truly value the diverse experiences it brings. Whether I’m collaborating with charitable organizations, supporting individuals in schools and colleges, or working in my private practice, I love meeting clients where they are and offering the help they need.
My heart is especially drawn to supporting those dealing with self-harm, suicide awareness, and trauma. I find creative therapeutic approaches particularly effective with children and young people, and I feel grateful every day to be part of their journey.
I specialize in helping children, teenagers, and young adults navigate challenges with peer relationships, emotional management, social skills, self-esteem, and confidence. In our initial sessions, we’ll explore your family’s background, discuss your current issues, and set potential goals to make a positive difference from the start.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my profile. If you’d like to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to hear from you.
