Welcome, if you are reading this I imagine you may be struggling at the moment. Perhaps you are finding it hard to cope with day to day life, work or with your relationships. You may be experiencing confusing or unmanageable emotions. If this is the case we can work together to explore what is happening to you and work together to understand your difficulties. Building on this understanding we can then consider what may need to change or be different for you to feel better and more settled.
I am a Psychotherapist with several years of experience working across both NHS psychological services and the private sector. My clinical practice incorporates a range of evidence‑based short‑ and long‑term treatments, tailored to the needs of each individual. I work with young people and adults, offering therapy both individually and in group settings.
My approach is collaborative and person‑centred. I support individuals to explore their experiences, identify and address areas of difficulty, and make meaningful changes that enable them to live fuller and more satisfying lives.
I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with Autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, including those with Autism and ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental differences, as well as those facing complex mental health challenges and interpersonal or relational difficulties. In addition to therapeutic work, I also offer ADOS‑2 assessments for adults as part of comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations.
In order to work with individuals and groups, I completed a Psychoanalytic / Psychodynamic Psychotherapy training over many years, leading to registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). The UKCP has a rigorous code of ethics which I abide by. This includes being mindful of confidentiality at all times, as well as a non-discriminatory practice in the widest sense.
What I Offer
- I offer Psychodynamic Supervision to Psychotherapists and Trainees.
- I offer ADOS-2 Adult Autism Assessments
I also offer clients individual, couples or group therapy, which can be open-ended or time limited, according to individual needs. My first session with new clients will allow us to fully explore the options available and decide if we are right to work together. I will happily refer you to a colleague if we feel alternative treatment would be more suitable.
I work in a variety of areas, ranging from anxiety, depression, personality disorders, neurodiversity, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, trauma, abuse, Complex-PTSD, addictions (related to alcohol, substances, food and sex), burnout, relationship issues, bereavement and loss, LGBT related issues and Autistic spectrum & ADHD related difficulties. This list is not exhaustive and may not specifically mention your current struggles.
Approach and Orientation
I offer Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, MBT, DBT & CAT informed approaches. These approaches provide a confidential, safe and supportive space in which to explore past and present feelings, as well as gaining insight into the meaning and influence they may have on your difficulties.
These approaches encourage an open and trusting relationship where feelings, beliefs, assumptions and actions can begin to be explored. We will challenge any negative emotions and work on resolving any self-sabotaging behaviour in order to build new foundations towards change and self-empowerment.
Philosophy on Counselling and Psychotherapy
Both Counselling and Psychotherapy are a response to suffering. My approach is to address this suffering, but to see it as an opening to new understanding. The focus will be to address the underlying cause of any presenting issue, rather than working solely with symptoms. Through our work together, I will focus on listening without jumping to any pre-judgements. I will try to help you to develop new ways of being and relating in order that you may find and pursue a new direction of your own.
You are very welcome to contact me by email for any further information or enquiries.
Yours sincerely,
Kerry Cook MSc

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
