About me

My name is Kerrie Riley. I am a registered counsellor (therapist) working in Leicester, Leicestershire. I am an Accredited member of the BACP (British Association For Counselling And Psychotherapy).

I started my career in counselling because I have a passion for supporting the wellbeing of others and believe anyone can benefit from a supportive and genuine relationship. I am confident in working with a variety of age groups over 16 years, and from different cultures or ethnicities. I pride myself in working with the LGBTQIA+ and ethnically diverse communities. I appreciate the psychological well-being of people from other heritages. For me to support you with improvements in your life, I believe a counsellor needs to be authentic and genuine.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

We can all face challenges in our lives, and can feel like we have little control. Anyone can face circumstances that are unwanted and life changing, which can leave us in a deflated emotional state.

This can be anything from relationship breakdowns, bereavement, loss of employment, or traumatic events; the list is endless. Regardless of what it is you’re having difficulty with, I can support your wellbeing while encouraging a positive change in your life. The way I work with clients has proven very beneficial. I maintain and build a relationship, in order for me to fully support your personal understanding. It requires a therapeutic bond that is built up from the relationship we will develop throughout your therapy.

I am qualified as an integrative counsellor, which allows me to draw upon different approaches. It works to keep it simple. I can offer you a safe space, where you are free to explore the cause of your emotional distress. This safe space is confidential and free from judgement. I am passionate about the work I do. I am compassionate, empathic and honest. I thrive on seeing progression in others, by developing a therapeutic relationship with my clients. This allows the process of therapy to be fearless. While it may take some time to develop different coping strategies, I believe positive outcomes will be achieved. Given the right conditions, anyone is capable of change and growth. Empathy and equality are the best foundations for a connection, and individuals can thrive when their autonomy and individuality is respected
