About me

In my private practice, I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, bereavement, stress, coping with medical conditions, challenging relationships or simply just working out how to move towards a better life. Having practised in a busy NHS Health Centre, I have encountered of a wide variety of client issues and understand the value of providing dedicated time and space to navigate life’s challenges. Alongside my private practice, I specialise in long-term counselling for survivors of domestic abuse working for The University of Salford Domestic Abuse Service where I am also engaged in research.

Primarily person-centred, my counselling involves working collaboratively to make sense of your experiences. I focus on unlocking your inner resources for positive change. While rooted in person-centred therapy, I can also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to tailor your therapy effectively.

Finding the right counsellor is really important. A good therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful therapy. For this reason, I offer a free online, telephone or face-to-face consultation of up to 30 minutes to give you the time to question me and decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an undergraduate degree from King's College London and a post-graduate qualification in counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Salford. I have also undertaken specialist training to work with survivors of domestic abuse.

My primary approach is person-centred but I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Short-Form Brief Therapy (SBFT) and can integrate these approaches as appropriate.

I have received training in delivering single session therapy and also been involved with the 'Arts for the Blues' Programme at the University of Salford.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
