About me

Shame dies where stories are told in safe places.

Hello, I’m Kay, a qualified Psychotherapist and I have been working with children and young people who have childhood developmental trauma for the past 5 years and now I open my practice to anyone who may have attachment disorders, childhood trauma or problems with relationships. I offer online therapy so I can see a wider group of people, however may do some home visits if local to me.

I also am a therapeutic parenting trainer and have trained hundreds of professionals and parents in the PACE approach which helps people build positive and safe spaces and relationships for children with trauma.

My specialism is in attachment theory, childhood trauma and relational issues. Through these topics I have treated a variety of emotional difficulties and coping strategies such as eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety, depression, OCD, alcoholism, addiction, and low self-esteem. I have the added bonus of being trained in an integrative way which means I can tailor sessions to suit each individual and sessions are kept under review by myself and my client for what works best.

I find a lot of joy in supporting others on their journey to healing and leading a fulfilling life, and I like to remind my clients often of the progress they’re making. I have a special interest in those who experienced childhood trauma but my practice is not limited to this.

I have use and experience using several tools for assessment if this is something my client is interested in. This can be used to look at where they are on their therapeutic journey and to monitor levels of mood. However, will only be used if the client wants this. Otherwise, I like to create an open, flexible, person centred therapy approach, using attachment theory, trauma processing and occasional CBT to ensure clients are working through the things they need and want to. Sessions will be tailored to individual needs.

I will continue to run my consultancy for children’s social services alongside my private practice. This provides regulation services, therapeutic packages, and other ad hoc services for providers working with children in care. Do have a look on my website at some of my personal passions such as raising awareness for children in care through my children’s book, or fundraising for children’s services in Thailand.

As much as I love the face to face therapy option, online therapy is accessible for all, and means no travelling time or expense. I hope this means more people will seek the support they deserve. I can offer flexible sessions, once a week, or once every other week if this is more financially viable.

I look forward to seeing you and helping you work through your stuff so you can start living the life you deserve.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
